İsmail USTAOĞLU

Governor of Trabzon

ONE BELT, ONE ROAD PROJECT CRETAES NEW OPPORTUNITIES

I consider the 4th International Silk Road Businessmen Summit as a very important meeting for the advancement of trade and culture which has an important place in the ancient past of Trabzon.

We will host a very important summit between 27 - 29 November 2019 under the coordination of Ministry of Treasury and Finance and in cooperation with our Governorate, Metropolitan Municipality, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Exporters Association.

Trabzon has a very important trade history dating back centuries. I hope we will host this summit that will carry our vision of trade and tourism forward.

Undoubtedly, the region that surrounds the Silk Road and the Black Sea including the Balkans, Caucasia and Central Asia countries as well as our country is becoming increasingly crucial thanks to the new opportunities it creates in terms of the high growth potential in the fields of transportation, trade and production.

Moreover, "One Belt, One Road" Project, initiated by People's Republic of China to revive the historical Silk Road and to establish a trade bridge between Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, has created new opportunities for the region. Within the framework of these circumstances, efforts are being made to identify and eliminate the obstacles to the development of trade and investments along the Silk Road and between Black Sea and Caspian Basin countries. Therefore, it is an important mission to develop trade and investment relations among the countries of the region and to organize events for establishing new cooperation among businessmen of the region.

The event is supported by Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Ministry of Industry and Technology at ministerial level. In addition to The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and Turkish Exporters Assembly that are among the most important stakeholders, many public and private sector organizations support the event.

International Silk Road Businessmen Summit, which hosted 250 participants in 2008, 113 participants in 2011 and 260 participants in 2014 consisting of foreign companies and high level representatives of various institutions and organizations is traditionally held every 3 years.

Importer companies and investors as well as members of the press and representatives of institutions and organizations, presidents, ministers and deputy ministers of Afghanistan, Germany, Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, People's Republic of China, France, Georgia, India, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Iraq, Iran, Japan, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Macedonia, Mongolia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Sri-Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Greece were invited to the Summit.

Within the scope of the Summit, bilateral business meetings will be held between the foreign companies from 40 countries and Turkish companies which mainly operates in food products and technologies, construction materials and machinery industries as well as panels themed "Commerce, Finance, Investment and Cooperation”, " Transportation and Logistics" and "Tourism"

Thanks to the contributions of the Summit, it is aimed to ensure the consolidation of Turkey's relations with the countries in the region and to increase the volume of bilateral trade between the participating countries. We expect very important cooperations to be established in Trabzon and in our country thanks to the summit.

Our Dear President has occasionally called upon the exporters and investors of our country regarding to the employment mobilization and other issues. Trabzon has always been at the forefront of these calls, has been placed on the top and has been a province that is on these call's side with its trade, entrepreneur, investment, businessmen.

I believe that our businessmen will take their place in the Silk Road Businessmen Summit and they will establish cooperation with foreign businessmen. I hereby would like to take this opportunity to invite all relevant businessmen to the Summit between 27 – 29 November 2019 and to thank each institution that provided great support for the organization of the event.
